Sweet Barrio
As if it were a film, Sweet Barrio develops a very personal look at a neighborhood reality strongly marked by Globalization. They themselves represent a consequence of the transformation that Spanish Society has experienced in recent years, where tradition is increasingly intermingled with all types of languages and cultures.
His identity is eclectic, kind and very, very emotional.
From the Madrid neighborhood of Usera, in 2019 together with Campi Campón (Jorge Drexler, Natalia Lafourcade, Vetusta Morla) they published their first album Cinema Usera, where they evoke from the post-quinqui birth – “like the poppies that grow in the open fields” – a realistic and raw panorama with halos of hope and freedom, treated from the most personal level to the entire world.
His sound draws from his taste for roots music (flamenco, folklore, reggae,…) and his mix is absolutely natural, as well as the use of English within Spanish with perfect ease and credibility.
In 2016 they included their song Falling in the B.S.O. from Nuestros Amantes, a film by Miguel Ángel Lamata in which they also share the bill with Eduardo Noriega and Michelle Jenner, among others.
In 2019 they were awarded the Emerging Artist award at the Pop-Eye National Music and Arts Awards in Plasencia (Cáceres).
