IZARO
Izaro Andrés was born on New Year’s Eve almost 30 years ago and has been a composer and singer for over a decade. She has also created film soundtracks, directed and starred in a documentary, prepared international tours, and performed on stage. Since picking up a guitar in 2014, Izaro has been committed to self-sufficiency, with completely independent management and publishing, and a strongly feminist approach.
She began studying Physics, but switched to Communications in Donostia-San Sebastián, where she began playing guitar and uploaded her first song, Paradise, to YouTube. This song became the soundtrack for the film Pikadero, which premiered at the San Sebastián Film Festival in 2015. During her time in California, she decided to fully commit to music, which led her to release her first album, Om (2016).
Her second album, Eason (2018), brought her critical acclaim and performances in major theaters such as the Victoria Eugenia and the Kursaal, as well as tours in Mexico and Spain. She was nominated for the MIN Awards and won the Musika Bulegoa Award for her work in defense of women’s rights.
In 2020, she released Limones en invierno (Limones in Winter), which became the second best-selling album in Spain. She performed in more than 70 sold-out concerts at major venues and in places like Mexico City. The album was a finalist at the Odeón Awards, and her song Libre was nominated for Best Song of the Year. She also released the official song for the film Nora.
Her most recent work, Limones de oro (Golden Limones) (2022), is a collaborative project featuring artists such as Zahara, Amaral, Rozalén, and Xoel López. She was the first woman to sell out the Anoeta Velodrome in San Sebastián, selling 6,000 tickets. In 2023, he released cerodenero, a mature and experimental project that fuses pop, folk, and electronic music, which won awards for Best Album and Best Music Video.
Izaro has toured extensively, performing in cities such as New York, Bogotá, Dallas, and Austin, in addition to touring the country. In December 2024, he released a Christmas album, Izaro Gabonetan. He will close his tour in 2025 with a major concert at the Bizkaia Arena BEC, accompanied by prominent artists.
